The towering mountains, the still blue lake, and the couple’s fun loving attitudes made this day totally unforgettable. Follow along on their story from start to finish!

Sunrise First Look in Queenstown

We began their day with a short hike before sunrise to get our blood pumping and the adventure started! I hand made these gold embossed leather vow books for them, and they spent the morning writing their vows into the pages. When the sun rose, Cassie changed into her elopement gown and had a beautiful reveal moment with Andrew. His face at their first look says it all – WOW! The glow wrapped around them as we were the only ones at the top of the hike. Lake Wakatipu stretched out before them, and we busted open some feijoa fruits on the shore before taking some photos on the dock.

When this fun loving pair reached out to me, they already knew they wanted a heli elopement in New Zealand. No convincing necessary, and now future couples can see just how unforgettable this experience can be. From the moment the chopper lifted off, we knew we were in for a treat. Major props to our pilot Jason at the Helicopter Line! Cruising over the lakes, peaks, glaciers and valleys had us all absolutely speechless. Then we landed at Lake Erskine for their Heli elopement ceremony, and it was like heaven on earth. The perfect blue color of the lake is what elopement dreams are made of! A little framed photo of Scooter, their beloved weenie dog, set the scene for their symbolic ceremony. Then it was time to explore this unreal location for more portraits and pop the champagne!

Sunset elopement photos in Queenstown

After the excitement of getting hella heli married, we took a break and relaxed at their B&B. Having a stunning accommodation location sure doesn’t hurt, and the entire staff at The Hulbert House made this afternoon so relaxing. Honestly, they took such great care of us, it felt like they were celebrities! We gobbled up some pizza – because your elopement doesn’t have to be anything other than what YOU want – and headed out for a few more photos at sunset. This location was windy, but we had the panoramic views Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu all to ourselves. Plus, the windblown hair aesthetic is part of the charm of a Queenstown, New Zealand heli elopement. They danced and frolicked and literally cartwheeled until the sun disappeared, and then we ended the night with some star photos that they’d had on their bucket list. The shooting stars were a paid actor.
